West Texas Nonprofits Benefits Trust (WTXNBT)

The West Texas Nonprofits Benefits Trust (WTXNBT) is one of the most impactful initiatives founded by MSS to support nonprofit sustainability in our region.

WTXNBT was created to help nonprofit organizations across West Texas access strong, affordable employee benefits by working together instead of alone.

What Is It?

WTXNBT is a nonprofit benefits trust that allows eligible nonprofit employers to pool together to offer employee health and welfare benefits. By joining as a group, nonprofits gain purchasing power similar to larger employers, which can help stabilize costs and improve coverage options.

The Trust operates as an independent organization under Texas law. MSS serves as its founder and fiscal sponsor and provides administrative support, while the Trust is governed by its own Board of Trustees.

How It Works

  • Nonprofits join the Trust by becoming Members and adopting the Trust’s benefit plan
  • Member contributions are held in trust and used exclusively to provide benefits to participating employees and their families
  • A Board of Trustees oversees the Trust’s operations and financial stewardship

Membership is open to qualifying nonprofit organizations that are Strategic Partners of MSS and approved by the Board of Trustees

Why It Matters

Nonprofits often struggle with rising insurance costs and limited bargaining power. WTXNBT offers a collaborative solution designed specifically for West Texas nonprofits.

Through this shared model, participating organizations can:

  • Improve employee recruitment and retention
  • Provide meaningful benefits to their teams
  • Strengthen long-term financial stability
  • Keep more resources focused on mission delivery

WTXNBT reflects MSS’s broader mission: empowering nonprofits by enhancing efficiency, providing essential services, and fostering a collaborative environment.
